Columbus Songwriters:
CSA will have a first songwriter circle at the Java Central Cafe in Westerville on May 8th (Wednesday) from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. The primary activity for the Java Central circle will be critiques. Bring a song, each month, that you want to have critiqued by other songwriters.
For the first meeting, we will spend some time talking about the purpose of a critique, what constitutes a good critique, how to accept critique comments, and other related items. The goal is to set us up to better offer feedback for our songs. Then, we will perform and critique those songs for which you want feedback.
I expect that the critique format will periodically present the opportunity to talk about different aspects of the songwriting craft. If a particular topic (e.g.: phrasing, melody rhyme, etc.) generates enough interest, we can schedule a future meeting to explore that topic in more depth. I have a lot of material from both NSAI and from my other songwriting group in Dayton to help us in that regard.
Please come and try this out. It’s a great networking opportunity and a chance to obtain more focused feedback on your original material.
