I asked a friend who is closely involved in LA music publishing what the best medium was to promote new songs to an A&R or Music Publisher when meeting them. Specifically, I asked him if a download card would be the best way to go.
His response:
“I think anytime anyone in the industry has to do any extra work to hear your music it’s a bad thing. Card stuffed in pocket, might make it to desk… and then get buried/ or never gotten around to download it. Download cards are only good when you can sell them – you have an upside whether someone remembers to actually redeem them or not. If it were me, I’d make connections, then follow up with an email with the track embedded to listen to directly. Or, if you want something physical, I guess a usb stick of some sort, or the good old CD… immediacy is paramount.”
