My name is Dan Mitchell and I have been documenting the growing music in Columbus, Ohio through photography and video production since 2013. I have been a supporter, regular showcase attendee, and showcase photographer for the Columbus Songwriters Association since July 2014. I have always been an advocate for supporting local musicians and businesses. What better way to support and document rising local musicians than through the CSA?

Since I started taking pictures of the local music scene I have met over 200 talented and aspiring musicians. I look back on the first time I took pictures at a CSA showcase and I see the members who are still involved in supporting the local scene. I was immediately drawn in by the sense of community that members of the CSA shared and the respect that the songwriters gave each other while listening to original music. Since that first showcase I grew from taking pictures as a hobby to starting my own multimedia company called Mitchell Multimedia.

In September 2014, I was officially certified by the State of Ohio for becoming a limited liability corporation. Beyond the CSA, I am still active in documenting local open mics, showcases, and music festivals. I have shot pictures for the WOSU series Songs @The Center, CD102.5 sponsored events like Worst Kept Secret Fest, the Annual Cash Only Show, and CD102.5 Day Side A and B. Earlier this year my work has been published with songwriter stories featured in The Columbus Dispatch and The Columbus Folk Society newsletter.
